377 Buildings Stood Atop Karang River Demolished

At this time, the construction of inspection road has reached 250 meters long. All this time, its construction is hampered by illegal buildings on the riverbank

Hundreds of illegal buildings stood atop on the banks of Karang River, Pluit, Penjaringan, North Jakarta, were demolished by officers, Monday (9/29). It aims to smoothen the normalization project initiated by North Jakarta Administration.

Those buildings stood atop a land as long as 1.3 kilometers are located at RW 12, 14, 15, and 17 Pluit Urban Village.

Heriyanto, Implementer of River and Reservoir Normalization, disclosed normalization project includes sheet pile and reservoir construction with a long of 1.3 kilometers and 3 meters high. On the side of Karang River, there would be an inspection road as long as 2 kilometers with 7.5 meters wide.

"At this time, the construction of inspection road has reached 250 meters long. All this time, its construction is hampered by illegal buildings on the riverbank," he expressed, Monday (9/29).

Of the 377 illegal buildings, 60 percent of them have been demolished. "For inspection road, from 2 kilometers, the demolishment has been done up to 250 meters long," he expressed.

Vice Head of Pluit Urban Village, Depika Romadi disclosed that around 60 percent of building owners already left their buildings.

While for the non-formal Pondok Domba Schools which will be demolished, he explained, coordination with various sides has been conducted. As planned, as many as 60 students will be relocated to the nearest state school.

"Of the 60 students, 30 of them are from elementary school and the rest are from non-formal Early Childhood Centers (PAUD). For elementary school students, we will relocate them to state school and this matter has been coordinated with Head of Sub-District Primary Education Section." he finished.
