Creating your own dance is not something that is easy for many people to do. But differ with Novianti, a dance trainer who has created various dances, especially Betawi dance.
I want to always be creative and preserve dance by teaching it to the younger generation
With her ability, she who has learned to dance since four years founded an art studio called the Sanggar Tari Novy on Jalan Dahlia IV, RT 02/09, Kapuk, Cengkareng, West Jakarta in 1994.
Since the age of fifteen, her dancing talent began to be honed by Wiwiek Widiyastuti, a senior dancer who had created Betawi dances such as Tapak Topeng Dance in 1978 and Ronggeng Blantek Dance in 1979.
City Provides Special Webpage to Promote Sanggar in Jakarta"Initially I explored a lot of archipelago dance. But since I met Mrs. Wiwiek, I have become interested in the Betawi dance," she admitted to Beritajakarta.id, Tuesday (4/21).
Since then, she began creating various dances of her own creations such as, Centrik in 2016 and Nyai Jawara in 2018. Centrik Dance is a dance that tells about adolescent association and Nyai Jawara Dance tells the story of a formidable Betawi woman from Marunda who fought for emancipation like RA Kartini.
"Indeed there are already many dance studios in Jakarta. Unfortunately there are still few who create their own dance creations," she said.
And now her dancing talent has now been transmitted to 50 of her students who routinely practice dance in the Alur Anggrek Child-Friendly Playground (RPTRA), Menteng, Central Jakarta every Saturday from 2 PM to 4 PM.
"I want to always be creative and preserve dance by teaching it to the younger generation," she said.
