Thousand Islands Regency Imposes Sea Tourism Regulation

After reopening Thousand Islands for tourism in the transition period of PSBB, Thousand Islands Regency imposed sea tourism regulation that regulated water tourism, snorkeling, and diving.

Tourists should bring their own snorkeling and diving equipment

Thousand Islands Vice Regent, Junaedi mentioned, this policy was made to prevent COVID-19 transmission and ensure residents and tourists safety.

"Tourists should bring their own snorkeling and diving equipment and tourism business actors are not allowed to rent it. It is for everyone's safety and health," he asserted, Tuesday (6/23).

He added, tourists who plan to take a vacation to Thousand Islands should bring healthy certification from their domicile area. While owners of boat taxis and tourism boat are only allowed to use 50 percent of boat capacity.

"Those regulations are made to support health protocols implementation during COVID-19 pandemic. We expect the tourism business actors and tourists to comply with the applicable regulation," he stated.

Thousand Islands Tourism and Creative Economy Sub-agency Head, Puji Astuti mentioned, her side will continue to socialize regulations regarding health protocols implementation during transitional PSBB period to all tourism business actors including homestay owners, resort island management, travel service owners, and traditional boat owners.

"We ask tourism business actors to sign the integrity pact to strengthen their commitment," he said.
