No Landfill, Trash Piling Up in Kemayoran

Residents around Kemayoran Sub-district, Central Jakarta get disturbed by piling of trash. This condition occurred due to no landfill around the area.

Our job is only transporting from disposal waste to landfill. But there is no landfill, so we transport directly to Bantargebang

The trash piling seen on Jalan Bungur, Jalan Benyamin Sueb, and Jalan Serdang which the area is near from Kemayoran Sub-district office. As a result, many roads are functioned as a waste disposal site.

Head of Cleanliness Control for Central Jakarta Sub-dept. of Cleanliness, Suhama, his side is overwhelmed for transporting garbage because of no legal landfill.

Unoptimal System, Trash at TPS Ujung Menteng Keeps Piling Up

"Our job is only transporting from disposal waste to landfill. But there is no landfill, so we transport directly to Bantargebang," he said, Saturday (10/11).

According to him, at least 200 meter square is needed to use as landfill. But it still impossible.

Head Section of Cleanliness for Kemayoran Sub-district, Rina Yulia Farawati, stated that her side had loaded trash every morning, but the trash cart always come late.

"The cart came within three or four times a day. We only transport once in the morning," she stated.

She added that finding the land as landfill is difficult. Mostly the citizens canceled to sell the land if they know it will be used as landfill.
