Amid COVID-19 outbreak, West Jakarta Mayor Muhammad Anwar together with Pilar Jati Farmers Group have grown vegetables and tubers in a 500-meter width land of RW 01, on Kalimalang inspection road, Cipinang Melayu Urban Village, Makasar, precisely under Becakayu Toll Road. Thus far they successfully produce 20 kg of vegetable and tubers, such as cabbage, pumpkin, mustard greens and cassava, which are also enjoyed by local residents.

"In this joint harvest, we have guests from East Jakarta TP PKK Chairwomen Diah Anwar, East Jakarta Deputy Mayor Uus Kuswanto, Makasar Sub-district Head Kemal Alatas and Cipinang Melayu Urban Village Head Agus Sulaeman," he expressed, Tuesday (7/21).

Cipinang Melayu Urban Village Head Agus Sulaeman added the planting process carried out for 2.5 to 3 months.
"We will continue to provide guidance in the process of farming. In fact, we also mobilized PPSU officers to do treatment on this farm," he exclaimed.
RW 01 Cipinang Melayu Chairman Suhardiono expressed the harvest of these vegetables and tubers had been done twice. He also thanked the East Jakarta administration for giving residents the opportunity to grow crops. That way the environment turned green and was not abused by others.
"With this urban farming, there is added value for the local people. If it is handled more seriously, it is not impossible to produce prosperity for residents," he stated.
He added, at present, the land was planted with various types of vegetables and fruits such as cabbage, pumpkin, red chili, green chili, papaya, cassava, corn, eggplant and long beans.
