Jakarta Council (DPRD) Commission A Legislator, Lukmanul Hakim asked executive to facilitate free internet facility for students from underprivileged families thus they can study from home.

We want Jakarta Government to prepare free internet facility

According to him, the recent online learning system is quite burdening the economically disadvantaged people, especially students whose parents were laid off due to COVID-19 pandemic.

"We want Jakarta Government to prepare free internet facility, especially for students who live in densely populated area," he conveyed, Monday (8/3).

According to him, school's policy to hold learning activities via online force parents to pay more costs because they need to buy internet quota. It is very burdensome for underprivileged people.

Thus, he expects executive could immediately cooperate with other parties or internet providers to provide free WIFI for underprivileged communities. Later, this free wifi, he added, can be used at local RW post or near RPTRA or local urban village office.

"It should be concerned by Jakarta Government, free WIFI to support students from underprivileged families to study," he closed.
