Anies: PMI's Role is Very Important Amid COVID-19 Pandemic

The administrators who have just been appointed get extra assignments, especially during a pandemic like now

After holding the 12th Provincial Conference on July 15, the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) chose Rustam Effendi as Chairperson of Jakarta Management for Service Period 2020-2025. This PMI management was symbolically inaugurated by the Central PMI Chairperson Jusuf Kalla, at the Jakarta City Hall, on Wednesday (8/5).

At that time, Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan expressed his appreciation to the formation of the Jakarta Honorary Board and Management for Service Period 2020-2025. He gave a message related to the important role of PMI Jakarta, especially amid the pandemic in Jakarta.

"The administrators who have just been appointed get extra assignments, especially during a pandemic like now. We have big homework related to health issues and must be solved together. The experiences of these five months have shown how much this pandemic is affecting all of our lives and it should be seen as an opportunity for PMI to work in society," he expressed, at quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release.

He hoped that they would always be solid and work in accordance with the principles that PMI upholds and maintain the spirit of the movement that is the breath of this humanitarian organization.

"We want they to work as a team that prioritizes humanity and upholds 7 PMI principles. Hopefully it can move all of them, especially they are representatives of the movement to invite all to contribute to solving humanitarian issues," he said.

In the meantime, Central PMI Chairperson Jusuf Kalla also urged them to carry out their duties optimally to implement the PMI Jakarta work program which is guided by PMI's AD/ART, vision-mission and PMI's strategic plan.

"To execute it, surely we have to work hard and participation from all parties. So, I want you all to carry out this mandate as well as possible," he stressed.

As for the information, several who were also inaugurated by Chairman Bahrullah Akbar and members consisted of Insp. Gen. Police (Ret.) Drs. Ketut Untung Yoga, S.H., Hamdra Samal, Mohammad Feriadi, Andreas Sofiandi, Wildan S Niam and Handaka Santosa.
