Jakarta Becomes Pilot Implementation of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan

Jakarta would be a pilot on the implementation of the Social Security Management Agency’s occupational health division (BPJS Ketenagakerjaan) comprehensively, either for formal or informal workers.

Such implementation was planned to be held in 2015 gradually. Thus its implementation could optimally be done in 2016.

President Director of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, Elvyn G Masassya disclosed that formal and informal workers in Jakarta will be given the total benefits, such as financial, housing, transportation, and food as the BPJS Ketenagakerjaan implementation.

"Jakarta will be the pilot implementation of the BPJS Ketenagakerjaan. Financial benefits, they can get a good development results, more than bank interest," he said, after he met Jakarta Vice Governor, Basuki 'Ahok' Purnama, at City Hall, Tuesday (10/14).

Jakarta Vice Governor, Ahok uttered that the city administration's desire to become a pilot for BPJS implementation also aims to apply the Law 40/2004. "Someday, I believe the provinces all over Indonesia will see the system to Jakarta," he stressed.

He added, land for residential development in the framework of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan is located in Marunda, North Jakarta.

"Jakarta has 6.1 million formal and informal workers. From that number, 3.7 million of them already become part of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan in Jakarta, while the rest will be targeted in two years ahead," he finished.
