Transitional PSBB Period, Satpol PP Records 76,458 Violations in Jakarta

Jakarta Satpol PP has recorded 76,458 violations during transitional large-scale social restrictions (PSBB) period from June 4 to August 9, 2020.

We punish the violators based on Jakarta Gubernatorial Regulation (Pergub) No. 51/2020

Jakarta Satpol PP Head, Arifin stated, PSBB monitoring was targeted public places/facilities, socio-cultural activities, and individual. Sanctions for violators consisted of written warning, fine, seal, and social sanction.

"Total 617 written warnings, 8,686 fines, 26 seals, and 67,129 social sanctions. We punish the violators based on Jakarta Gubernatorial Regulation (Pergub) No. 51/2020," he mentioned, Tuesday (7/11).

In general, he conveyed, violations committed by business venues were mostly because not implementing comprehensive health protocols to prevent COVID-19. While for individual cases, it was mostly caused by not wearing mask when doing activities outside home.

Amount of collected fines from June 4 to August 9 reached Rp 1.9 billion.

"In detail, individual fine Rp 1,249,610,000; public places/facilities Rp 451,850,000; socio-cultural activities Ro 203,500,000. Those fines will be transfered to regional treasury," he informed.

PSBB operation such as monitoring as well as imposing sanctions for those who violate the regulations were done to make people and business venues to be more discipline in complying with COVID-19 prevention protocols, including wearing mask. He emphasized that COVID-19 is still a threat for people.

"We keep remind people to be discipline. Because we see that people tend to neglect the regulations by not wearing mask and complying health protocols," he conveyed.

PSBB operation was not carried out based on the number of violations found. In fact, the fewer violation means people's compliance and discipline in implementing health protocols are getting better.

"Thus when we carry out PSBB compliance operation and find out not many people violate it, then it means everyone is aware and obedient. That is our hope and measure for our success," he closed.
