222,342 Street Lights Replaced with LED Lamps

As many as 222,342 street lights in the capital city will be replaced gradually with Light-Emitting Diode (LED) lamps. It is conducted as part of government’s efforts to reduce gas emissions by 30 percent until 2030.

“LED lamp can save electricity usage up to 50 percent rather than regular street lights which have capacity of 400 watts, while LED’s capacity is only 200 watts,” stated Head of Jakarta industry and Energy Department, M Haris Pindratno, Sunday (10/19).
Of the 222,342 street lights, Pindratno told that his department has replaced 15,000 lights.

LED lamps are also already installed along Kampung Melayu-Tanah Abang Non-Toll Road Flyover (JLNT) and Antasari-Blok M JLNT,” he informed.
According to Pindratno, his department will also replace the street lights in residential with LED lamps.
“Although the investment value for LED lamp is higher, its power can last up to 10 years than regular street lights which power is only three years,” he explained.
As known, energy savings is already set in the President Instruction No. 13/2011 on Energy Savings, Governor Regulation No. 33/2008 on Implementation of Energy Savings in Jakarta Provincial Government, and Governor Instruction No. 23/2008 on Energy and Water Savings.
