1,000-Watt Street Lights Installed as Theft Prevention

East Jakarta Industry and Energy Sub-Department is going to install 1,000-watt street lights with a length of between 30-40 meters in order to anticipate theft and vandalism action.

Those street lights are planned to be installed in 16 points spread in 10 sub-districts, East Jakarta. As the initial stage, they will be installed in two points in the courtyard of East Jakarta Mayor office. Its procurement was already through an auction process in Jakarta Goods and Service Procurement Unit (ULP). As planned, contract signing will be conducted today or Monday (8/25).

Locals Complaining Street Light Poles in the Middle of Road

"Actually, we need 8 points in the mayor office. But only 2 out of them have been approved and had been through auction process. While the remaining would be budgeted in 2015," expressed Head of East Jakarta Industry and Energy Sub-Department, Tuti Kurniati, Sunday (8/24).

According to him, such street lights have 8 branches with a height of 30 meters. For one pole, its price reaches Rp 400 million.

Next year, Kurniati disclosed the 16 points which will be installed with street lights are at the border of Jakarta-Depok on Jalan Raya Bogor, Cakung, Pulogadung Bus Terminal, Viaduk Jatinegara Park, in front of Jatinegara Sector Police Headquarter, junction of Pasar Rebo, Ciracas, and Jalan Raya Inspeksi Kalimalang.

"Each street light has 16 branches with a height of 40 meters," she told.
