Today, Jakarta Secretary Saefullah Passed Away

Jakarta Government is in mourning after the death of Jakarta Secretary, Saefullah who died on Wednesday (9/16) at 12:55 WIB at RSPAD Gatot Subroto, Central Jakarta. Saefullah died of irreversible septic shock with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) as a confirmed COVID-19 patient.

Mr. Saefullah died because of irreversible septic shock with ARDS which damaged his lung tissue due to infection of COVID-19

Jakarta Health Agency Head, Widyastuti confirmed the cause of Saefullah's death.

"This afternoon, our Jakarta Secretary (Sekda) has passed away. Mr. Saefullah died because of irreversible septic shock with ARDS which damaged his lung tissue due to infection of COVID-19. It causes irreparable respiratory failure because there is no adequate oxygen exchange. Let us pray for Mr. Saefullah. May his soul rest in peace," she conveyed as quoted from Jakarta PPID Press Release, Wednesday (9/16).

City Officials Who are Positive for COVID-19 Carry Out Self-Isolation and Work from Home

Previously, Saefullah underwent treatment at MMC Hospital in South Jakarta since September 8, 2020 until he was referred to RSPAD Gatot Subroto on Sunday (9/13) morning.

It is planned that his body will be buried according to COVID-19 protocols at family burial ground in Rorotan, North Jakarta.

He has served as Regional Secretary of Jakarta Province since July 17, 2014. Previously, he served as Central Jakarta Mayor in 2008-2014.
