Disdik Strives to Improve Children's Quality at Early Age by Expanding Access to Public PAUD

Jakarta Government through Education Agency continues to realize a comprehensive Early Childhood Education (PAUD) with good quality.

It has been mentioned in Jakarta Provincial Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMD) 2017-2022, Regional Strategic Studies (KSD) No. 8 concerning Increasing Access to Early Childhood Education (PAUD) and Improving PAUD Teachers Welfare.
Jakarta Education Agency Head, Nahdiana conveyed, steps taken to realize a comprehensive PAUD with good quality are to establish PAUD in various locations for equitable distribution and expanding access for community to obtain PAUD services.
Disdik Sets New Simplified Mechanism for KJP Plus and KJMU Registration"In 2020, we continue establishing 142 public PAUD institutions, consisting 22 institutions in Sub-district Offices, 100 institutions in Urban Village Offices, 6 institutions in Pasar Jaya, 1 institution in Education Agency Office, and 1 institution in Hasyim Ashari Mosque. In addition, there are also 12 One Roof PAUD - Elementary School institutions that being founded this year," she explained as quoted from Jakarta PPID press release, Wednesday (9/23).
Previously, until 2019, there were 100 public PAUD consisting of 67 public kindergartens, 13 public TPAs, and 20 public SPS. The 13 TPAs and 20 public SPS are located at City Hall, Mayor Office, Sub-district Offices, and Pasar Jaya. Thus total public PAUDs which planned to be officially established this year are 242 institutions.
"Apart from quantity, we are also trying to improve the quality and facilities, as well as increase the role of education ecosystem by increasing parental awareness towards the importance of early childhood education," she stated.
She emphasized that all public PAUDs established by Jakarta Education Agency can be accessed by public for free. Student admission will prioritize children aged 5-6 years who haven't been registered at any PAUD institutions, from the underprivileged families, and those who live the closest to the PAUD location.
"We hope state PAUD establishment can be on target and optimally support the children's growth and development at the golden age. Hopefully the joint efforts of all stakeholders will produce the best educational results for the early childhood as a form of investment on the nation's next generation," she closed.
