Rare passing trailer trucks around the port allegedly happened because logistic entrepreneurs avoid traffic congestion caused by road diversion. Thus, they postpone their delivery activities.
“Indeed, the traffic is quiet since morning and smoother, unlike usual,” admitted Chief of Operational Guidance Affairs for North Jakarta Traffic Unit, AKP Frieda.
Jalan Jenderal Sudirman - Jalan MH Thamrin ClosedChairman of Indonesia Struggle Transportation Labors Union, Ilhamsyah, also acknowledged that trailer truck activities in Tanjung Priok until this noon is unusual because the bookings are crowded in the afternoon.
“Yes, the bookings now are decreasing. It would return to normal in the afternoon,” he disclosed.
According to Chairman of Indonesia Logistics Association, Zaldy Masita, said that his party has socialized about the possibility of congestion today which caused by traffic diversion. As a result, almost all logistics entrepreneurs cancel their goods shipments.
“Nearly 100 percent logistics vehicles postpone their trip today,” he told.
Meanwhile, Vice Chairman of Jakarta Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN), Sarman Simanjorang, stated that entrepreneurs do not suffer loss because of this logistics shipment postponement. On the other hand, conducive presidential inauguration would raise positive sentiment to business in Indonesia.
“It’s only postponement, no losses. If they (logistic entrepreneurs) insisted (shipping goods), the operational costs would be expensive,” he uttered.
