Social Agency Distributes 198 Mobility Aids for People with Disabilities

Jakarta Social Agency (Dinsos) encourages the fulfillment of the need of mobility aids (ABF) for people with physical disabilities. Since January-September 2020, Dinsos has distributed 198 ABF to those in needs.

This assistance is expected to facilitate the beneficiaries to do their daily activities

Jakarta Dinsos Head, Irmansyah informed, his side provided ABF in form of hearing aid, wheelchair, crutches, walking sticks, blind sticks, prosthetic legs, and prosthetic hands.

"We have distributed 14 prosthetic legs, 1 prosthetic hand, 177 wheelchairs, 4 three-legged walking sticks and two regular walking sticks," he explained, Monday (9/28).

Jakarta residents who want to receive assistance must prepare some required documents, consisting cover letter from local urban village, photo of entire body in 3R size, as well as copies of ID card and family card (KK).

After registering, team from Social Sub-agency at municipality level together with Local Sub-district Social Unit will conduct visitation and assessment of potential ABF recipients. After assessment and declared eligible to receive assistance, ABF will be sent to the beneficiaries.

"Later on, the beneficiaries will sign ABF handover report. This assistance is expected to facilitate the beneficiaries to do their daily activities," he conveyed.
