Jakarta Central Statistics Agency (BPS) conveyed that inflation rate in Jakarta reached 0.02 percent in September 2020. The highest inflation occurred in education category, where academies or tertiary institution cost increased by 0.11 percent.

Jakarta BPS Head, Buyung Airlangga stated, other commodities that also contributed to inflation is gold jewelry by 0.03 percent and garlic by 0.01 percent.
"In September 2020, inflation in Jakarta reaches 0.02 percent. There are three groups that contributed to inflation, including universities, gold jewelry, and garlic. However, commodities prices in Jakarta are quite controlled," he mentioned in virtual press statement, on Thursday (10/1).
Jakarta Strives for Stable Garlic StockAccording to him, garlic commodity experienced an inflation of 0.01 percent due to imbalance between stock and demand for garlic. Thus it caused a significant increase in the prices.
Apart from inflation, there are also deflation in 3 categories in September. From the highest; air transport with minus 0.07 percent, chicken meat with minus around 0.04 percent, and eggs with minus around 0.02 percent.
"Deflation on those three groups are caused by air transport which experienced reduction in tariffs on several airlines and imposed tariff reduction policy related to the decline in number of passengers due to this pandemic," he explained.
Meanwhile, price for purebred chickens and eggs tends to fluctuate in September, which has increased or decreased one after another. "We hope the inflation rate will remain stable until the end of this year," he said.
