Health Dept Never Issue Practice Permit for Foreign Doctor

The discovery of illegal practice done by a foreign doctor in Metropole Clinic, West Jakarta, some time ago, makes Jakarta Health Department tightens the issuance of permit for clinic as well as doctor. The permit to build clinic will also be stopped temporarily, especially in areas where there are already many clinics.

“We have primary and main data. So, in areas that are already full of clinics, no more clinic is allowed to be opened,” stated Head of Jakarta Health Department, Dien Emmawati, Friday (10/24).

Not only that, Emmawati continued, her department will also tighten the monitoring of health clinics. Not only in terms of establishment permit, but also because many clinics employed foreign doctors.

“Clinic owners must obey the rule. Because if they did not, we will not hesitate to report them to the police and Manpower Ministry,” she asserted.

Moreover, Dien disclosed that until now her department never issue work competencies recommendation for foreign doctors. So, if there was foreign doctor practiced in a healthcare service, it is absolutely against the rule.

“Everything that is foreign-label should have been not existed, because we never give permission until now. The citizens must be aware if there was foreign doctor practicing. Don’t assume that foreign is always better,” she uttered.

To give information to the public, Jakarta Health Department displays a list of hospitals and health clinics that have official permit on its website www.dinkes-dki.go.id.

“On that website there are clinics and hospitals that have official permit,” she told.
