Illegal Buildings and Kiosks in Central Jakarta Demolished

Joint personnel from Sawah Besar Sub-District Satpol PP and PT KAI Daops I tore down 45 illegal buildings under the railroad overpass, precisely starting from Jayakarta Train Station until Sawah Besar Train Station, Monday (10/27). As planned, the site will be transformed into a green open space (RTH).

Based on beritajakarta.com observations, joint personnel demolished those buildings since 7 AM. An excavator was also used in the demolition process.

“This (demolition) is conducted to arrange the city. There has been an agreement between Jakarta Provincial Government and PT KAI that all areas under railroads will be re-functioned and transformed into green open spaces,” stated Head of Sawah Besar Sub-District, Henri Perez Sitorus.

Illegal Buildings at Taman Honda Demolished

In that occasion, the personnel also demolish 150 illegal kiosks in front of Asemreges Market. Those buildings are demolished because they were built on a drain and potentially lead to inundation and flooding during rainy season.

“After this, Jakarta Public Works Department will build a parallel road on the side of the rail that stretches from Kota Station until Djuanda Station, with a length of approximately 4.5 kilometers,” told Sitorus.
