KIR Test Limited as Vehicle Surge Anticipation

The Ujung Menteng Motor Vehicle Test (PKB) Technical Management Unit, Cakung, East Jakarta, implements a booking mechanism in a bid to anticipate vehicle surge in the implementation of the roadworthiness test (KIR). After taking a number at the counter service, the customer must wait 2-3 days to be served.

Head of PKB Ujung Menteng Section, Joko Santoso disclosed that every day, there are 500 vehicles that undergo the KIR test. The implementation of the booking mechanism is applied due to the high volume of vehicles.

4 Private Companies Interested to Build KIR Test Centers

"Every day, we just serve a maximum of 500 vehicles. They already had booking number from the previous days," he stated, Tuesday (10/28).

To take the number, the vehicle owners only bring a copy of the KIR book and then receive queue numbers. Commonly, the KIR participants are from East Jakarta, Central Jakarta, South Jakarta and parts of West Jakarta.

According to him, since the last two weeks, the KIR test in Ujung Menteng begin orderly. There is no long queue that previously had happened at 11 PM-1 AM. The queue usually happens at 4.30 AM. Then the officers will input the vehicles' data at 5 AM. As for the counter drive-thru service is opened at 7 AM and closed at 4 PM.
