Jakarta Transportation Department is about to build the mechanism lanes for kir test in big terminals. It aims to anticipate vehicle surge during kir test process happened in the Motor Vehicle Testing (PKB) at Ujung Menteng, Pulogadung, and Cilincing.
"We plan to build mechanism lane for kir test at Pulogebang, Pulogadung, Kampung Rambutan, and Kalideres Terminals. We will also build two other mechanism lanes at Rawa Buaya Terminal," said Deputy Head of Jakarta Transportation Department, Benjamin Bukit, Wednesday (8/20).
City Asked to Build New KIR Test PlacesHe disclosed those PKBs at Ujung Menteng, Pulogadung, and Cilincing already exceeded the capacity since the PKB Kedaung Angke, West Jakarta, closed down. "The number of vehicles that do the kir test in Ujung Menteng, Pulogadung, and Cilincing already exceeded its capacity," he told.
Ideally, he continued, one KIR equipment is capable to test out 70 vehicles per day. But now, one equipment can serve between 100-200 vehicles per day. "If we serve the kir test participants continuously, our equipment will broke," he stressed.
Of the 15 mechanism lanes, 8 out of them are malfunctioned. At this time, the PKB Cilincing only have two lanes, Ujung Menteng with three lanes, and Pulogadung with two lanes, causing vehicle surge. Thus the new kir test place is very needed.
"The only way is we have to add mechanism lane for kir test. Thus we can do service optimally and avoid vehicle surge," he finished.
