15 SDA and PPSU Personnel Handle Inundation on Jl. Bujana Tirta

As many as 15 personnel from Pisangan Timur Water Resources (SDA) Unit and PPSU were deployed to overcome inundation as high as 20 centimeters on Jl. Bujana Tirta, Sunday (1/24). Inundation was caused by overflowing Bea Cukai Reservoir.

Usually when the rain subsides, inundation quickly receded

In the rain, PPSU and SDA unit personnel cleaned up garbage that clogged drains as well as closed and opened the sluice gates leading to connecting channel on Jl. Alu Alu.

Pulogadung Sub-district SDA Unit Head, Indra B. Anshor conveyed, inundation often occurs because Bea Cukai Reservoir cannot hold water that rises when the rain falls.

"We cannot dredge the reservoir because it is an asset owned by Custom and Excise (Bea Cukai). We have suggested them to request for dredging to governor, thus we can dredge the reservoir," he explained.

Pisangan Timur Urban Village Head, Muhammad Iqbal mentioned, drains that located in his region disembogue into Bea Cuka Reservoir. But reservoir's recent condition is already shallow thus excess water overflows into the roads.

"Usually when the rain subsides, inundation quickly receded," he stated.
