As many as four rented houses at Jalan Syaridin, RT 08/09, Kampung Bendungan, Ragunan, South Jakarta, caught by a fire on Tuesday (11/4). There were no casualties reported in the scene, but the loss reaches hundreds of millions rupiah.

Ahmad, (37), one of witnesses expressed fire broke out at around 10.15 AM. Due to strong winds, fire quickly spread and burned other rented houses.

"We immediately the house owners to step aside. We have tried to put out the flames using available tools, but we failed," he told.

As many as 18 fire trucks of South Jakarta Fire and Disaster Handling Sub-Department sent to the scene. They managed to out the flames within one hour.

"The fire location is categorized as a densely populated area, thus we worry fire spread to next houses," exclaimed Head of Operation Section for South Jakarta Fire and Disaster Handling Sub-Department, Edi Sucipto.

He uttered firemen had difficulties to get the scene due to narrow access. "The access is narrow. We had to break through the citizen's garden, to get closer to the fire," he uttered.
