4,480 Trees Pruned in East Jakarta

East Jakarta City Park and Forestry Sub-agency has pruned 4,480 trees throughout January 2021. Trees pruning was carried out to minimize occurence of trees falling down in rainy season.

We cut the trees to prevent it from fall when strong winds occurs and heavy rain falls

East Jakarta City Park and Forestry Sub-agency's Forestry and Green Area Section head, Atang Setiawan stated, 91 Forestry Unit personnel or PJLP deployed from 10 sub-districts to prune trees prone to fall every day. They were equipped with 23 chainsaws and 1 ladder that can reach trees with height above 10 meters.

"We have pruned 4,480 shady trees in January. We are still counting the recapitulation for February. We cut the trees to prevent it from fall when strong winds occurs and heavy rain falls," he mentioned, Thursday (2/11).

Green Belts in Jakarta Being Beautified

In detail, his side has pruned 301 trees in Jatinegara Sub-district, 397 trees in Makasar, 334 trees in Pasar Rebo, 310 trees in Matraman, 356 trees in Pulogadung.

Next, 299 trees in Kramat Jati, 346 trees in Ciracas, 397 trees in Cipayung, 401 trees in Duren Sawit, and 255 trees in Cakung.

"Trees pruning also carried out by sub-agency buser team with total 1,084 trees," he added.

According to him, trees pruning conducted to follow up requests from residents through CRM application and based on buser team monitoring and observation.

"It aims trees prone to fall and shady trees whose branches are dangling into roads or buildings," he said.
