Kota Tua Festival This Weekend, Be There!

Jakarta Tourism and Culture Department is about to hold another cultural festival at Taman Fatahillah, Kota Tua, on November 8-9. The event will be enlivened with various Betawi arts, such as dance and gambang kromong (traditional Betawi orchestra).

The event that has been going eight times is an annual event which aims to promote the Kota Tua with its cultural art gallery

Head of Performance and Exhibition Division, Jakarta Tourism and Culture Department, Wawan HR disclosed the event is aimed to entertain Jakartans with theme an old-time (tempo dulu). Various attractions will color the event.

Besides Betawi arts, the Batavia Band and other bands will also be brought in to cover the songs of the legendary band, Koes Ploes. The event will also display Chinese cultural performances such as lion dance (Barongsai) and wushu.

"The event that has been going eight times is an annual event which aims to promote the Kota Tua with its cultural art gallery," he explained, Thursday (11/6).

He ensures that the event would not interfere with revitalization plan in the Kota Tua. According to him, its preparation is almost 85 percent. "Our obstacle is the existence of street vendors and thugs at the site," he stressed.
