KPK Questions Jakarta's Tax Revenue
Reported by Folmer | Translated by Nugroho Adibrata
Head of Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Abraham
Samad criticized some problems in the planning of Jakarta City Budget (APBD),
particularly from tax sector. The reason is, when budget being drafted, revenue
target from tax sector is allegedly decreased than it should be thus there is a
difference that can be corrupted.
Do not forget the management of advertisement tax in the city is also not open yet
Tax revenue in Jakarta into the spotlight are advertisement
tax, restaurant, hotel and entertainment. "Do not forget the management of
advertisement tax in the city is also not open yet. The tax revenue target for
instance, where its amount has been decreased, like from Rp 2 billion becomes
Rp 1 billion," said Samad, when he attended a workshop on Supervision
Coordination of Corruption Practice Prevention and Launching Plan of Integrity
Zone towards Free Area from Corruption in City Hall, Thursday (11/6).
He also expressed the KPK will create a clean and
transparent government.
"An ideal APBD is APBD for people. in the APBD, the
budget allocation for capital expenditure is 30 percent and for its apparatus
should be lower. But in fact, its amount is highest than capital
expenditure," he stated.
He asserted, KPK was determined to observe the further
process of goods and services procurement in Jakarta Provincial Government that
has the potential for corruption. Additionally, his party will also oversee the
distribution of grant and social aid in the capital due to most of grantees
have not submitted an accountability report over the use of the government aid.
"I saw the grant and social aid are problematic. Most
grantees have not submitted an accountability report. It see it in almost all
provinces. Therefore, there must be accountability for grant funds use,"
he asserted.
Meanwhile, Acting Jakarta Governor, Basuki 'Ahok' T Purnama
committed to create clean governance and free from corruption. One way is to cooperate
with the KPK, Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) and Supreme
Audit Agency (BPK).
"We would like to thank the BPKP, BPK and KPK that
continue to help us towards Jakarta free of corruption. We will also keep
combating unruly employees and officials here," he stressed.
Besides KPK, Samad, the workshop was also attended by KPK
Prevention Deputy Johan Budi SP as well as BPK and BPKP representatives. There
were also City Secretary Saefullah, Head of Jakarta Education Department Lasro
Marbun, Head of Financial Management Agency (BPKD) Heru Budi Hartono, City
Secretary Assistant for Development Section Wiriyatmoko, Head of Building
Control Department I Putu Indiana, Head of Tax Service Department Iwan
Setiawandi, as well as Head of Communication, Information, and Public Relation
Agus Bambang Setyowidodo

undertaken to improve and strength cooperation towards Jakarta free of
corruption.

corruption," he uttered.
