Acting Jakarta Governor, Basuki 'Ahok' T Purnama acknowledged that he was dissatisfied with the study of the detailed engineering design (DED) on the basement in the National Monument (Monas), Central Jakarta

Former regent of East Belitung assessed the DED study made by Jakarta Housing and Government Buildings Department is less referring to the governor regulation No. 167/2012 on Utilization of Basement and Air.

"I am not satisfied where the DED usage was smaller. In the old gubernatorial, the basement usage is only 10 meters deep.  Supposedly, it could be made larger," said Ahok at City Hall, Tuesday (11/11) night.

He explains the Monas' basement will be equipped with a hotel in a bid to support tourism and giant parking facility that can accommodate tens of thousands of motorcycles.

"We want the basement could accommodate about 20 thousand motorcycles. Thus people can park vehicle there when free bus operates," he explained.

To realize it, he furthered, he plans to revise the governor regulation No. 167/2012. "If the council rejects the construction through City Budget (APBD), we will cooperate with private side," he uttered.
