SME Division Head Elisabeth Ratu Rante Allo stated that it needed to be registered as it contained Intellectual Property Rights (HaKI). It was the hallmark of a product thus legal certainty and protection were needed against the use of names and logos for the products they produced.

"Brands are now popping up everywhere. If it has been registered at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, it can't be imitated," she expressed, Thursday (4/8).

She explained the trademark registration was divided into 20 batches a year. Besides being free, those whose business marks would be registered and be provided with assistance, among others, how to fill out the form, the requirements that must be completed, the ownership of the logo, and the benefits that come when the mark is registered.

"If they register independently, they have to pay into a state account or treasury, but not for Jakpreneur or we can say it's free," she explained.

She added after they passed through registration process, they would receive proof of registration number registered at the ministry. They could check the status at dgip.go.id.

"Save it and don't lose it. The expiration period since registration is 10 years. Afterwards, they need to renew again," she stated.
