Jakarta KPKP Agency Acting Head (Plt), Suharini Eliawati stated, 99.8 percent of total samples taken were free of hazardous substances, which means safe for consumption.
"There are 3 samples from fishery products or 0.12 percent of total samples with positive results of hazardous substances. We immediately confiscated and destroyed it," he mentioned, Friday (4/9).
Food Inspection Intensified in North JakartaKPKP Agency will continue to hold food inspection to ensure food safety for Jakarta residents, especially fresh foods from agricultural, livestock, and fishery products before and during Ramadan 2021.
"Fresh food inspection is conducted before and during Ramadan, from April 9 to May 10 in 26 locations such as traditional markets, supermarkets, marketing centers for agricultural, fishery, and livestock products," she explained.
According to her, food sampling and testing were carried out on agricultural products such as rice, fruits, and vegetables; fishery products such as fresh fish, salted fish, and fishery processed products; and livestock products such as beef, chicken, and chicken intestines.
"Our personnel will take several samples and test it to ensure whether it contains of hazardous substances such as pesticide residue, formalin, chlorine, and eber or not," she asserted.
He encourage Jakarta residents who suspect the use of hazardous substances in fresh foods from agricultural, livestock, or fishery products in markets to report KPKP Agency.
"They can send us food samples that are suspected unsafe for consumption to be tested," she conveyed.
