Food Inspection Intensified in North Jakarta

Ahead of Ramadan, North Jakarta Maritime, Agriculture, and Food Security (KPKP) Sub-agency intensifies food inspection activity in several markets. Today, five traditional markets were targeted for food inspection.

Food inspection is carried out routinely to ensure food safety for Jakarta residents

North Jakarta KPKP Sub-agency Head, Unang Rustanto mentioned, his side held food inspection at five traditional markets, namely Waru Market (Koja), Lokbin Rorotan Market (Cilincing), Sinar Market (Koja), Walang Baru Market (Koja), and Kebon Bawang Market (Tanjung Priok). In this inspection, his side didn't find any samples of agricultural, livestock, and fishery products that contained of hazardous substances.

"From total 213 food samples we examine, all of them are negative for formalin, pesticide residue, eber, chlorine, and other dangerous chemicals," he stated, Thursday (4/8).

Central Jakarta KPKP Holds Food Inspection in Five Markets Today

From total 213 food samples, he informed, there were 109 samples of agricultural products, 31 samples of livestock products, and 73 samples of fishery products. All samples were checked on the spot at mobile laboratory car which stationed at Waru Market.    

"Food inspection and samples examination are carried out by implementing strict health protocols," he added.

In detail, his side took samples from vegetables and fruits for agricultural products, chicken and beef for livestock products, as well as fresh fish, salted squid, tiger prawns and other processed fish products.

"Food inspection is carried out routinely to ensure food safety for Jakarta residents regarding food products circulating in the markets," he said.
