Ciracas Urban Village Inaugurated as Disaster Preparedness Village

Ciracas Urban Village, East Jakarta, was inaugurated as Disaster Preparedness Village (KSB) by Jakarta Social Agency Head, Premi Lasari, on Monday (4/12).

In East Jakarta, currently there are 32 disaster-prone areas

In this inauguration event, Premi Lasari and Ciracas Sub-district Head, Mamad, symbolically put the vest on Ciracas Urban Village KSB administrators which was followed by handing over public kitchen.

She said, KSB is a form of community participation in anticipating disasters in Ciracas Urban Village.

Anticipating Extreme Weather, Social Agency Prepares Thousands Personnel and Equipment

According to her, collaboration between government and community in disaster management is very important not only in overcoming floods and fires, but also other disasters.

"Jakarta Social Agency facilitates this Disaster Preparedness Village by providing the necessary facilities and infrastructure. Thus when disaster occurs, Jakarta Social Agency through East Jakarta Social Sub-agency will provide in-kind supports for KSB," she explained.

East Jakarta Social Sub-agency Head, Purwono added, by inaugurating KSB in Ciracas Urban Village, number of KSB in East Jakarta increased into 19 urban villages. According to plan, there are two other urban villages that will be inaugurated as KSB in the future.

"In East Jakarta, currently there are 32 disaster-prone areas and it is necessary to establish Disaster Preparedness Villages in the future," he stated.

Ciracas Urban Village Head, Rikua Marwan Salahudin mentioned, his side would support KSB to run optimally in overcoming disaster.

In Ciracas Urban Village, he informed, there are four RWs that are prone to inundation because they are located on the banks of Sunter River. Those are RT 12-15 of RW 04; RT 01, 09, 03, 16 of RW 03; RT 14, 03, 15 of RW 10; and RT 08, 09 of RW 05.

"We need at least two rubber boats and rope to help evacuate residents when the flood occurs," he asserted.
