A number of pedestrian bridges (JPO) in Central Jakarta looks in bad condition. One of the bridges is located in Galur of Senen Sub-district.

The bridge which is located in front of the SMK Rasera 66 looks shabby and unmaintained. Even some rusty iron buffers are prone to injure the pedestrians who cross it. In addition, the roof of the JPO is also missing. Though the JPO is vital for citizens to cross the street.

"We have no other option to cross the street even though the JPO is in bad condition," said Panji Baskoro (16), one of the students of SMK Rasera 66, Wednesday (11/12).

Panji hoped JPO be repaired immediately by related agencies to make it more comfortable.

"Please repair the bridge," he added.

Central Jakarta Head Sub-dept. of Transportation, Syamsudin, explained the repair is about to start because the bid winner has been announced. The project will be run by Jakarta Transportation Department.

"The authority to run the project is in department level, not us," he said.

According to him, Rp 200 million is prepared to repair four JPOs. Those are in Galur, Gambir, Sawah Besar, and Kemayoran.
