“The escalator from ground floor until third floor has been tested since last week, and there is no problem. This end of August we’ll operate it. Other works left are only finishing,” stated Tanah Abang Blok G Market, Namen Suhandi, Monday (8/25).
Besides building escalator, Suhandi continued, Jakarta Transportation Department is also trying to build pedestrian crossing bridge (JPO) from Tanah Abang Station to Tanah Abang Blok G Market.

According to Suhandi, the JPO would be 325 meters long and three meters wide. And at the same time, another bridge would also be operated by PD Pasar Jaya. Later, the bridge will connect Blok G Market with Blok F Market.
“The bridge connecting Blok G Market with Blok F Market is still being done by PD Pasar Jaya. It is targeted to be operated with the JPO connecting Blok G Market with Tanah Abang Station. In the future all shopping centers in Tanah Abang would be connected, starting from Blok G, Blok F, Blok C, Blok B, Blok A, and Metro,” he uttered.
Rita (42), a clothes vendor in Blok G Market third floor, hopes the market management would quickly finish the escalator finishing works and accelerate the construction of connecting bridge to Tanah Abang Station.
“It’s good if the escalator operated quick, so people would be easier getting up here and not fatigue. And speed the construction works. We’re about to sink in here,” she expressed.
