Basuki Officially Replaces Jokowi Leads Jakarta

Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) was finally announced as Jakarta Governor in a plenary meeting held Friday (11/14). The meeting was attended by 47 members out of total 102 council members.

Jakarta City Council Chairman, Prasetyo Edi Marsudi, explained the meeting was held in order to follow up the Home Affairs Ministry's letter. Previously, a meeting with all factions chairmen was also held.

"Today, I officially announce and propose to Indonesian President through Home Affairs Minister to inaugurate Acting Governor as Governor," said Prasetyo during the meeting.

The proposal letter will immediately be submitted to president via minister. "We don't know when the inauguration will be held. The authority is in president's hand," he added.

Regarding the small number of members who attended the meeting, he does not think much about that. It is because the meeting was only announce Basuki replaces Jokowi.

Based on beritajakarta.com observation, the meeting run less than 10 minutes. During the meeting, Prasetyo was not accompanied by his four deputies as M. Taufik from Gerindra, Triwisaksana from PKS, Abraham Lunggana from PPP, and Ferrial Sofyan from Democratic Party.
