Antisipasi Banjir, Infrastruktur Tahun Ini Lebih Baik

Infrastructures This Year are Better to Anticipate Flooding

Many efforts are done by Central Jakarta Water Management Public Works Sub-Department in anticipating flooding during rainy season, such as normalizing the water channels and holding routine maintenance to water pumps. With such efforts, the number of flood prone points is expected would decrease than previous year.

The infrastructures are improving compared to last year. If the weather was not extreme, Petamburan would not be flooded

Head of Central Jakarta Water Management Public Works Sub-Department, Herning Wahyuningsih, said that besides normalizing water channels and doing routine maintenance, her party is also installing sheet piles on Bendungan River, Cempaka Putih, and automatic filters in some pump houses.

“The infrastructures are improving compared to last year. If the weather was not extreme, Petamburan would not be flooded. And Insya Allah (with God’s permission), (flood handling) this year would be better,” she stated, Sunday (11/16).

City Cancels the Use of Weather Modification Technology

Wahyuningsih admitted that Petamburan, Tanah Abang, is a flood prone point in Central Jakarta. As for the sheet piles on West Flood Canal (KBB), some are still leaking. However, her department cannot repair it because KBB improvement is the authority of Public Works Ministry.

“But, we have sent letter to the Water Resources Directorate General of Public Works Ministry to conduct checking in anticipating rainy season,” she said.
