Kampung Akuarium Designated as Location for Jakarta's Anniversary Declaration Event

The declaration of Jakarta's 494th Anniversar y in North Jakarta was centered on Kampung Susun Akuarium construction project, at RT 12/04 Penjaringan Urban Village, Penjaringan Sub-district. This declaration event was attended by North Jakarta Mayor, Ali Maulana Hakim; North Jakarta Deputy Mayor, Juaini Yusuf; North Jakarta Administration, as well as RT 12/04 Head, Topas Juanda, who became the representative of Kampung Akuarium residents.

Theme of Jakarta's 494th Anniversary Declaration event is 'Jakarta Bangkit' which broadcast via live streaming at Jakarta Provincial Government's YouTube channel. Reflecting this year's theme, North Jakarta Government chosen Kampung Akuarium as the location for city anniversary declaration in North Jakarta.

North Jakarta Mayor, Ali Maulana Hakim explained, the rise of Jakarta is reflected in building Kampung Susun Akuarium. It involved various parties in the construction process, from government private sector, community, and other related stakeholders.

"Kampung Akuarium is a village arrangement concept, not moving the village, but arrange it. It is more about accommodating local wisdom. This village arrangement and development have been adjusted with local community's aspirations. The concept of collaboration in Kampung Akuarium is based on local community's requests, but the construction is still from PT. SBPI (Surya Bangun Persada Indah). So, there are elements of government, private sector, and community. From the beginning of the concept to building it, it involves all parties," he said at Kampung Susun Akuarium, Penjaringan Urban Village, Penjaringan Sub-district, North Jakarta, on Monday (5/24).

According to him, Kampung Akuarium has an opportunity to be one of tourist attractions in North Jakarta that can improve local residents' economy. Moreover, he continued, Kampung Susun Akuarium is located in Sunda Kelapa area, where there are number of historical buildings in the area, including Maritime Museum, Syahbandar Tower, Jami Keramat Luar Batang Mosqye, Heksagon Market, VOC Shipyard, and Sunda Kelapa Harbor and Lighthouse.

"Sunda Kelapa is historical area that cannot be forgotten since it is the origin of Batavia or Jakarta. Since Jakarta is led by Anies Baswedan, he began to manage the coastal community, which is now located in Kampung Akuarium. Currently, the 5-storey buildings of Kampung Susun Akuarium are being built named Block B and Block D units. The construction progress has reached 97 percent, but its architectural finishing, such as mechanical electric, has reached 6.2 percent," he mentioned.

Responding to this, Jakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan said, Kampung Susun Akuarium construction reflected the real collaboration. He said the design was made through agreement with residents, not only with government.

"There are elements of resident, government, expert, and facilitator. Those four elements colaborate to make the design. Thank God, the construction is now running. God willing, they will not only see Kampung Akuarium as a new home, but a better home, with more dynamic community than before," he conveyed.

Meanwhile, Topas Juanda, RT 12/04 Head as well as representative of Kampung Akuarium residents stated, his side was very pleased with the collaboration concept which carried out in developing Kampung Susun Akuarium. It started from building temporary shelter and musala (prayer room) in 2018, until now the construction of 5-storey Block B and D buildings which targeted to be completed in August 2021.

"We are very grateful with collaboration between local government and community. Everything is truly conceptualized from residents to residents. Thus it is not only government that gives the concept, but residents also take a part in giving inputs and government responds it," he said.

On the same occasion, PT. SBPI (Surya Bangun Persada Indah) Site Manager, Dudy Altha Prasetya mentioned, his side as the contractor of Kampung Susun Akuarium collaborated with local residents in building the village. Collaboration is carried out through participatory planning by involving residents who are assisted by RCUS (Rujak Center for Urban Studies) as technical assistant for residents in drafting the concept of Kampung Susun Akuarium.

"We coordinate with residents regarding acceleration of work, material purchasing, and residents also supervise the work. We are very optimistic about completing the construction of Block B and D in August 2021," he stated.
