Latest Information on COVID-19 Cases and Vaccination in Jakarta as of May 24, 2021

Jakarta Government continues to control COVID-19 pandemic. Not only implementing 3T, COVID-19 vaccination is also being promoted to priority groups. However, community participation is still needed to remain disciplined in implementing health protocols.

Given that COVID-19 vaccination can only reduce the impact of exposure, there is still a possibility of COVID-19 transmission if people don't follow health protocols. It can be seen from positive cases that are still fluctuating and now tend to increase. It needs cooperation from all sides to break the transmission chain.

Jakarta Health Agency's Disease Prevention and Control Division Head, Dwi Oktavia stated, based on the latest data from Jakarta Health Agency, PCR test has been carried out to 10,197 specimens. From that amount, 8,361 specimens have been tested today to diagnose new cases with total of 819 positive results and 7,542 negative results. Besides, Antigen test was also conducted to 10,910 people with 126 positive results and 10,784 negative results.

"For information, 367,478 PCR tests have been carried out per 1 million population. While the number of people tested for PCR in the past week reached 56,247. Number of positive cases increased by 483 cases thus in total it reached 10,616 active cases as of today (including people who are still being treated/isolated)," she explained as quoted in Jakarta PPID Press Release.

Meanwhile for total confirmed cases in Jakarta as of today reached 424,828 cases. It should be noted that positive antigen test results in Jakarta were not included in total positive cases because all were reconfirmed by PCR.

From total positive cases, 406,987 people recovered with recovery rate of 95.8% and 7,225 people died with mortality rate of 1.7%. While mortality rate in Indonesia reached 2.8%

For positivity rate or positive cases percentage in the past week in Jakarta reached 9.2%, while the percentage of positive cases in total reached 10.9%. WHO also set standard positive cases percentage no more than 5%.

Vaccination process is still ongoing. Vaccination target for stage 1 and 2 (for health workers, elderly and public servants) is 3,000,689 people. Currently, first dose vaccination has been given to 2,324,594 people (77.5%) and second dose vaccination to 1,656,848 people (55.2%). While through Gotong Royong Vaccination, as many as 4,753 people in Jakarta have received vaccines.

In detail, for health workers, first dose vaccination has been given to 130,055  people (115.8%) and second dose to 115,685 people (103%) with total vaccination target 112,301 people.

For elderly group, first dose vaccination has been given to 589,306 people (64.6%) and second dose to 522,510 people (57.3%) with total vaccination target 911,631 people. In public service group, first dose vaccination has been given to 1,605,233  people (81.2%) and second dose to 1,018,653 people (51.2%) with total vaccination target 1,976,757 people.

Jakarta Satpol PP also gives sanction for anyone who don't wear mask and violate health protocols, and intensifies guest book data collection, as well as other forms of PSBB violations, such as in restaurants, business places, and industrial places. The imposed sanctions are in form of social work, fines, temporary suspension of activity, and revocation of business license.

Based on daily report submitted by Jakarta Satpol PP on May 23, 2021, at 18:00, Satpol PP had collected fine Rp 1,100,000. With hope all residents can be more disciplined and participated in breaking the chain of COVID-19 transmission.
