The Health Ministry (Kemenkes) has given clarification regarding the assessment of handling Covid-19 in Jakarta.
This risk indicator shouldn't be a performance appraisal, moreover the performance appraisal in one of the best provinces has done the best things
Health Minister, Budi Gunadi Sadikin said the Risk Indicator was used as an internal analysis at the ministry, instead of the performance appraisal of provinces, districts and cities. It was used as an internal analysis to see the rate of pandemic transmission and preparation for the spike in Covid cases after the Eid holiday.

"This risk indicator shouldn't be a performance appraisal, moreover the performance appraisal in one of the best provinces has done the best things," he expressed, Friday (5/28).
He explained that the ministry was still exploring other factors to improve responses, interventions, policies, or programs that could be done to overcome the pandemic based on previous experience.
"All countries and organizations around the world are still making modifications, policies and interventions to find which one best fits the pandemic. That's why, studies on indicators to properly prepare our strategy to cope with a pandemic are always changing," he explained.
He appreciated all Jakarta administration apparatuses, especially health workers who had made efforts to handle and prevent the disease to the fullest.
"They have worked hard, despite they have limitations. However, they can still arrange an isolation room to anticipate a surge in incoming patients," he stated.
According to him, Jakarta was the province with the highest testing in Indonesia and the implementation of vaccination for the elderly was also at more than 60 percent.
"Meanwhile, testing matters from all provinces, Jakarta has the highest. It was decisive. Then regarding vaccination, the three aggressive and fast provinces are Jakarta, Bali and Yogyakarta," he explained.
He assessed, cooperation between all components and stakeholders in a country needed to be well knit to overcome the disease, starting from the central, local government, and social organization, including community.
He added vaccination was not the only way to tackle the pandemic, but should be under health protocols; testing, tracing, isolation; hospital readiness; and treatment strategies.
"The four strategies must be done simultaneously," he stated.
