Amarta: Give Ahok Chance to Work

Basuki ‘Ahok’ T Purnama has been officially inducted as the new Jakarta Governor for the remaining term of 2014-2017. Despite some parties disputed his inauguration, Chairman of Jakarta Community Alliance (Amarta), M Rico Sinaga, said it is a normal thing and in accordance to the law.

Let’s give Ahok a chance to work, so he could bring Jakarta to better direction

“Ahok becomes Jakarta Governor substituting Joko Widodo is a reasonable political reality because the constitution and law have regulated it, thus no need to be debated,” he stated, Wednesday (11/19).

Because of that, Sinaga urges all parties to give Ahok the opportunity to realize his promise, that is to develop Jakarta for the welfare of the citizens.

Ahok Came, Locals Agreed Their Lands Acquired

“Let’s give Ahok a chance to work, so he could bring Jakarta to better direction,” he said.

To the Legislative Council (DPRD), Sinaga asked them to focus on finishing their pending obligations, such as the establishment of supporting bodies, considering they have many tasks to be done in a very limited time.

“Jakartans are smart already. They understand about Ahok’s inauguration as governor is not substantial because the rule is pretty clear. The important thing now is how to find the right figure for vice governor post,” he asserted.

As an example, Sinaga added, he supported the pair of Fauzi Bowo-Nachrowi Ramli as Jakarta Governor and Vice Governor in the 2012 Gubernatorial Election.

“But in reality, Jokowi-Ahok the chosen one. I accepted it gracefully. That is democracy. Although our hero lost, but Jokowi-Ahok came out as the winner, thus we have to admit and support,” he uttered.
