Fire Razes 30 Houses in Tambora

Fire gutted 30 houses located on Jalan Tanah Sereal Raya, RT 08/10, Tambora Sub-District, Tanah Sereal Urban Village, Thursday (11/20).

Citizens were trying to put out the flames, but they failed because the workshop closed by a rolling door and a iron railing

Ipong (53), one of local citizens expressed, fire broke out at around 4.45 AM from an Aphin motorcycle workshop belongs to Hendry Santoso. Allegedly, it is triggered by electricity short-circuit.

"Citizens were trying to put out the flames, but they failed because the workshop closed by a rolling door and a iron railing," he told.

The adjacent houses and strong winds caused the fire burned the buildings quickly. Locals panicked and immediately tried to evacuate their valuables to a safer place.

At 7.30 AM, 20 fire trucks of West Jakarta Fire and Disaster Handling Sub-Department managed to control the situation

"Allegedly, the cause of the fire is electricity short-circuit. There is no casualty reported in the incident, but the loss reached hundreds of millions rupiah," said Head of Operational Section for West Jakarta Fire and Disaster Handling Sub-Department, Abdul Wahid.
