161 Fire Cases Happened in West Jakarta in January-July 2021

Total 161 fire cases occurred in West Jakarta in January-July 2021. Mostly it was caused by short circuits.

Total area reaches 16,241 square meters with material loss reaching Rp 31.7 billion

West Jakarta Fire Handling and Rescue (Gulkarmat) Sub-agency Operation Section Head, Eko Marno stated, 116 fire cases in that period were caused by short circuit, 3 fire cases were caused by cigarette butts, and 42 fire cases were triggered by other causes.

"Total area reaches 16,241 square meters with material loss reaching Rp 31.7 billion," he informed, Wednesday (8/4).

In the same period in 2020, he mentioned, there were 144 fire cases where 90 cases were caused by short circuit, 3 cases caused by cigarette butts, and 21 cases were due to other causes.

"Material loss from 114 fire cases is estimated to reach Rp 20.7 billion," he stated.

In order to minimize fire cases, West Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-agency has implemented various efforts, from socializing early fire handling to educating residents to use electronics correctly and according to standards.

"We ask residents to be more careful and pay attention to the things that can cause fire. Especially the use of electricity and gas stoves," he asserted.
