Cannot Handle Puddle, Regional Heads will Be Demoted

Entering the rainy season, the ranks of the regional working units (SKPD), urban village, and sub-district heads were instructed play an active role in tackling flooding in the capital. They directly have to monitor the conditions of each region. If the flood happens in the long-term, they will be demoted.
Puddle at some point have decreased a lot, because they (regional heads) clean up the drains well
Jakarta Governor, Basuki 'Ahok' T Purnama assessed that
urban village and sub-district heads have had much time to dredge the drains.
Therefore, if there is bad performance, he threatened to cast strict
punishment. But, he also praised the performance of some regional heads who
have managed to reduce the puddle.
"Puddle at some point have decreased a lot, because
they (regional heads) clean up the drains well. But, we will evaluate every
location. If the drain is still clogged, they will be demoted as a staff,"
asserted Ahok, at City Hall, Tuesday (11/25).
He acknowledged he will keep monitoring the performance of
urban village and sub-district heads until December. If there is no a
significant change, they will be sanctioned. "We will do evaluation at the
end of December. If they refuse to work in the field, we will replace
them," he stressed.
In rainy season this time, the city administration predicts
as many as 634 RWs in 125 urban villages in Jakarta will be submerged. Most of
them located in South and North Jakarta are passed by rivers. Hence, the
regional heads asked to routinely check the drain that is connected to the
river and monitor the pump house. Thus, each region is ready to face flooding.
"We do not tolerate anymore, if there is puddle, we
immediately monitor it. Previously, they reasoned the water level was still
reasonable due to it would recede in 3 hours. But, Jakarta cannot tolerate for
puddle over 10 minutes that causes congestion for hours. They should find out
what causes it and immediately take the solution," he uttered.
