Health Agency Encourages RT/RW Administrators to Collect Data on Residents who Haven't Been Vaccinated

Jakarta Health Agency invites RT/RW administrators to re-collect data of their residents who haven't been vaccinated against COVID-19. Thus residents who haven't been vaccinated can be identified and they can be asked to get vaccinated as soon as possible.

Based on data from COVID-19 Handling Committee and National Economic Recovery (KPC-PEN) which combined (overlay) with data from Jakarta Population and Civil Registration Agency which stated 2.7 million residents with Jakarta ID card haven't been vaccinated.

Jakarta Health Agency Head, Widyastuti conveyed, based on survey results, there were several factors why people hadn't been vaccinated, namely certain comorbidity and rejection or lack of awareness of the importance of COVID-19 vaccination.

"Currently, many types of vaccines that are available and more vaccination locations that are more accessible. For certain comorbidities, Moderna and Pfizer vaccines are relatively more acceptable, of course, on recommendation from doctors. So there's really no need to hesitate anymore," she mentioned, Tuesday (9/7).

She explained that COVID-19 risk communication is an important element of public health thus people not neglect it and things that shouldn't be done can be avoided. In addition, risk communication is needed thus transmission doesn't spread further and people do not panic or worry.

"In implementing risk communication strategy, the role of RT/RW administrators and community leaders as the role model is very important to educate public about handling COVID-19, including to encourage people thus they want to be vaccinated," she said.

Through support and role of RT/RW administrators and community leaders in conducting good risk communication, she believed that public trust in government programs can be formed.

Participation and mapping from RT/RW administrators is very necessary to ensure how many residents per RT who are actually live in Jakarta but haven't been vaccinated. Through help of RT/RW administrators, mapping of people who haven't been vaccinated will be easier.

"All of these roles are needed, it is impossible for us to work alone. Providing good risk communication is important thus we can form more positive public opinion," she expressed.

He conveyed that mapping by RT/RW administrators should be done to obtain real data on residents who haven't been vaccinated thus it will make it easier for Jakarta Government, especially Health Agency, to intervene at certain points or locations. But it is undeniable that population dynamics also becomes an obstacle in the field.

There are also many residents with Jakarta ID cards but no longer domiciled in Jakarta. Even though the data already exists, there are extraordinary population dynamics. Door-to-door method to identify and encourage people to get vaccination is one of strategies that has been working on.

"After sweeping address of people who haven't been vaccinated, we find residents with Jakarta ID card but don't live in Jakarta. Thus we encourage participation of RT/RW to map the actual population," she asserted.
