Ten Heavy Equipment Deployed to Dredge Munjul Reservoir

It has been since March ago and is targeted to be complete by the end of this year

Around ten heavy equipment have been alerted to speed up the Munjul Reservoir dredging in RW 04 Munjul, Cipayung, East Jakarta, on Monday (10/4). They consist of three long arm excavators, six standard excavators and one small amphibious excavator.

According to Hendra Hidayat, Vice Mayor of East Jakarta, it is one of the efforts to overcome flooding in the Sunter River flow area, such as in Cipinang Melayu, Lubang Buaya, Setu and other areas.

Gerebek Lumpur Action in Munjul Reservoir Begins

"It is expected to smoothen the river flow," he expressed.

Besides Munjul Reservoir, he stated, similar action was also observed in Sunter River and Sulaeman Connecting Channel (Phb). In the near future, there would be construction of the Halim Reservoir at the end of Sulaeman Phb.

Jakarta Water Reservoir (SDA) Agency Head, Yusmada Faizal added, the Munjul Reservoir has 5.19 hectares width with a wet cross-sectional area of about 3.02 hectares. If it had been dredged, the reservoir could hold 163,163.57 cubic meters of water.

"It has been since March ago and is targeted to be complete by the end of this year. It is carried out as deep as three to five meters," he said.

East Jakarta SDA Sub-agency Head, Santo uttered, as many as 150 joint personnel plus 15 dump trucks had also been alerted to transport mud maximally.

"Those 15 trucks are from SDA Sub-agency (six units), Bina Marga Sub-agency (three units), Water Agency UPK (three units), and Parks and Urban Forest Sub-agency (three units)," he closed.
