Tidal Floods on Lancang and Pari Islands Gradually Recede

Alhamdulillah, everything is relatively safe

Tidal floods that inundated several areas on Pari and Lancang islands, Pari Island Urban Village, South Thousand Islands Su-district, Thousand Island since December 4 have gradually receded.

Pari Island Urban Village Acting Head, Muhammad Ardian said, until 10 AM, the water level today only left around 10-15 centimeters.

"Alhamdulillah, everything is relatively safe and people who take refuge have returned to their homes," he expressed, Tuesday (12/7).

He explained, areas affected by tidal floods were RT 01/01, RT 01/03, RT 02/03 and RT 03/03 on Lancang Island. while RT 01/04 and RT 04/04 on Pari Island.

"On December 4, the flooding reached 70 centimeters to 1.5 meters height and locals had to take refuge," he explained.

To avoid a similar disaster, he added, a soup kitchen and refugee camp had been set up in the yard of the Pari Island Urban Village Office.

"This is indeed a natural event due to high tides. So, it has become our focus by doing disaster mitigation because the high tide is erratic," he stated.
