Not Obey Rules, Many People Refused by Hospital in Jakarta

Although they have become a health program participant, yet the number of Jakarta residents are still rejected by the hospital. But the refusal is because they do not obey the applicable rules.

Jakarta Governor, Basuki 'Ahok' T Purnama disclosed a patient without referral letter from doctor at the community health center (puskesmas) could not immediately go to the hospital, including hospital type A as Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital.

"You must be refused if you treat to the Cipto Mangunkusumo because of the hospital is a tertiary referral. So, if you are sick cannot be treated at the Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital, but to the puskesmas. Moreover, the Tarakan General Hospital (RSUD) is currently the same as the Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital," he stated, at City Hall, Tuesday (12/2).

He disclosed patients do not want to undergo the middle-class people's service. "While the lower-class people will not be picky about health service," he expressed.

He also explains how to distinguish between the lower-class and upper-class people. The lower-middle people will not be picky about health service. While for the upper-class people do not want to be treated in third-class service, but to Pondok Indah Hospital or to Singapore.

"As for the middle-class people, they can only protest and picky doctor. That's why many hospitals refuse them," he explained.

But he promised to re-check the rejection case experienced by Muhammad Firdaus, a baby born abnormally in the Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital on Sunday (11/30).

Firdaus is the son of David (32) and Nurahmah (25), a citizen of RT 19/03, Tugu Utara Urban Village. It is not known for sure whether his parents registered as health program or not.

As known, he was born abnormal and defective, in which he only has three fingers on the right hand and the left leg without fingers. Even, his head also not perfectly formed. Before the hospital refused him, his parents had brought him to the Koja Sub-District Puskesmas, North Jakarta, and then to Koja RSUD.
