In the action led by East Jakarta administration Assistant, Eka Darmawan, those personnel were seen controlling street vendors who set up stall on the sidewalk. With a long-arm excavator, they were also demolishing the cast concrete used as a transaction place with buyer.
He explained, the long-arm excavator used to speed up the arrangement process as the sidewalk material was very hard and full of very thick cast concrete thus it could not be done manually.
Tambora Satpol PP Urges PKL Not to Open Stall along Road ShoulderAccording to him, it is a series of activities in arranging the area in front of the UKI Hospital. The land that had been used by street vendors would be returned to its original function, as parks and sidewalks.
"We get locals' support. Hopefully, it can run well," he hoped.
Before being controlled, his party had been conducting socializing by inviting around 21 street vendors.
"We have offered a place for them in Cililitan and Susukan coaching locations or locally known as Lokbin. But, they are not ready to move," he expressed.
RW 11 Cawang Chairman, Suprapto, appreciated the action. He admitted, the existence of street vendors who open stall from 6 PM to 2 AM had disturbed public order and triggered conflict between groups.
"We support it, as we want to create a clean, orderly and comfortable environment," he stated.
