The majority of residents support the closure of the railroad crossing on Jalan Bungur Besar 17, RW 01 Gunung Sahari Selatan, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta that will be tested for a month, starting February 1, 2022.

It was stated by Central Jakarta Assistant for Economy and Development, Bakwan Ferizan Ginting after socializing the community about the closure trial plan on Monday (1/24).

"We hope there will be no huge impact from the trial next month. We are doing this for the safety of residents and passengers. So, we are working with residents to ensure the trial goes well," he asserted.
Director of Safety for Railways Directorate General, Edi Nursalam, who participated in the socialization explained that the railroad crossing was closed due to the extension of Kemayoran Station's platform.
"We hope it can be closed soon because the area will be used for railway platform in Kemayoran Station since it is too short. The platform is extended for the safety of passengers and residents," he conveyed.
A resident who trades in a market near Kemayoran railway crossing named Arif Sudaryoko (56), admitted that he had no problem with the closure, as long as there were alternative solutions to facilitate people to go to market thus it would not hamper their economy.
"We ask them not to close it completely. We are grateful because there are some crossings that are open to pedestrians," he said.
