800 Melons Harvested at Cilangkap Agritourism

As many as 800 melons were harvested at Cilangkap Agritourism or locally known as Agro Edu Wisata (AEW) Cilangkap, in Cipayung, East Jakarta on Friday (1/28). The harvest was directly led by Jakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan.

There are 800 melons harvested weighing around 1.2 tons

On this occasion, he was accompanied by Assistant for Economic Affairs, Sri Haryati; Maritime Agriculture and Food Security (KPKP) Agency Head, Suharini Eliawati; East Jakarta Vice Mayor, Hendra Hidayat; and other related officials.

When they arrived at the location around 7 AM, they were walking to the green house area where melons were planted. At the location, he collected a golden melon, peeled, and tasted it.

Visiting AEW Cilangkap, Anies Appreciates Potential Areas with Tourism and Education Facilities

Jakarta KPKP Agency Head, Suharini Eliawati informed that the green house at AEW Cilangkap was an example of developing indoor urban farming. There were 800 melons planted through hydroponic system in this green house with harvest period of 65-70 days.

"Melon varieties that we harvest at Agro Edu Wisata Cilangkap are golden melon, alisa, and apollo rock melon. There are 800 melons harvested weighing around 1.2 tons," she explained.

She assessed, the presence of Jakarta Governor today could encourage AEW Cilangkap staffs in conducting plant nursery and cultivation.
