KPKP Agency Ensures Safe Food Stock Ahead of Ramadan

The Jakarta Maritime, Agriculture, and Food Security (KPKP) Agency has secured sufficient food supplies for residents to prevent shortages during the coming Islamic holy month of Ramadan.

We're also collaborating with the Trade Ministry, National Food Agency, Agriculture Ministry, and Bulog Divre Jakarta

KPKP Agency Head, Suharini Eliawati said her agency and BUMDs in the food sector have been cooperating with PT Food Station Tjipinang Jaya (FSTJ) and Perumda Pasar Jaya, which aims to ensure the availability of stock of rice, cooking oil, eggs, sugar, garlic, chili commodities, and food distribution locations.

She explained the steps and efforts that have been and will be carried out are the distribution of subsidized food for certain communities in the form of rice, beef, chicken meat, milk, fish, and chicken eggs.

They would also hold a mobile bazaar using food trucks belonging to PT FSTJ and Perumda Dharma Jaya, including opening food outlets managed by Perumda Pasar Jaya at 34 Jakmart outlets, 54 mini Distribution Centers, and four wholesales food market Jak Grosir.

"We're also collaborating with the Trade Ministry, National Food Agency, Agriculture Ministry, and Bulog Divre Jakarta if there are conditions that need to be intervened quickly," she uttered, Wednesday (2/16).

She predicted there would be an increase in demand for some foodstuffs ahead of Ramadan, like chicken eggs and meat in the forthcoming March.

Then in April, it would occur in strategic food needs such as rice, shallots, garlic, curly red chilies, red chilies, chicken eggs, beef, chicken meat, sugar, and cooking oil.

"In May, it will happen to beef and chicken, but we already anticipated it," she stated.
