Jakarta Maritime, Agriculture and Food Security (KPKP) Agency ensures that strategic food availability in Jakarta for Christmas and New Year is safe.
There are 11 commodities that affect the need for foodstuffs
The strategic food commodity needs in question are rice, shallots, curly chili garlic, red cayenne pepper, beef/buffalo meat, purebred chicken, chicken eggs, granulated sugar and cooking oil.
KPKP Agency Head, Suharini Eliawati predicted that there would be a price hike of about three to five percent during Christmas and New Year. It was based on data and annual studies, field monitoring, coordination with BUMD and BUMN in the food sector, as well as supplier areas.
Jakarta to Intensify Fresh Food Inspection Before Christmas and New Year"There are 11 commodities that affect the need for foodstuffs. To calculate food needs in Jakarta, it is still based on the number of people living in Jakarta, around 10.6 million people. That's the availability we prepared for Christmas and New Year," she expressed, Thursday (12/9).
She explained, the price hike would hit red and curly chilies due to the influence of the rainy season and high demand in producing areas.
"But this is still within normal limits. Surely, it won't be too burdensome for the community," she explained.
She went on to say that various efforts were made to maintain the stability of the availability and strategic food prices in Jakarta. That was by coordinating with central government, Food Task Force, and through regular meetings with Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID).
Aside that, the agency also has a food security information system (SIKP) to monitor and inform food stocks and prices. This SKIP is integrated with Jakarta Food Information.
"Specifically for rice availability, we regularly monitor 95 locations consisting of distributors, agents and shops," she uttered.
She added, BUMD in the food sector also has an integrated system with the food system at KPKP Agency. We are also monitoring food availability and prices every day.
"We have 20 enumerators who specifically monitor and record data related to supply, stock and food prices at the level of traders throughout the region," he stated.
